"He's really asleep," Lucas heard Wess whisper, wakefulness starting to creep into his head. "At least he doesn't seem to be hurt."

A bit later, he heard a dog whine and the weight of uncertainty regarding Boney was lifted from his mind.

He pulled himself out of bed and leaned over to give the dog some scratches. Wess and Grandpa Alec were waiting for him.

"Oh, you're finally awake!" Alec exclaimed. "Don't worry, Boney is in tip-top shape, too."

"How long was I out, Grandpa?" the boy asked.

"Not as long as we thought you'd be, but when you were out, boy were you out!" Alec said. "All day and night yesterday and all this morning."

"Why was there hay there?"

"In a dream I had, Hinawa told me to pile hay in that spot right away. She saved your lives."

"It's strange," Wess added. "Hinawa appeared in Alec's dream and told him to pile hay at that one spot. Then, in the real world, right out of the blue, you two fall right into the pile... It's as strange as strange can be."

"Yeah, strange..." Lucas agreed.

Though part of him was thinking back to his Halloween dream and his mother's reassurance that a pile of hay would be waiting for him at home, too.

"No matter where she goes, Hinawa is always thinking about you," Grandpa Alec said, putting a hand on Lucas's shoulder.

There was a little more conversation before it was agreed that Lucas should stretch his legs while there's still daylight. But just before he left, Alec followed him out.

He asked, "Say, was Duster with you?"

Lucas nodded, as they were together up until the Sunflower Fields.

"Ah. I thought so. But...I doubt there's any need to worry. I'll let Wess know. Anyway, Lucas. It seems you've met one of my Magypsy friends."

"Like the story you told Claus and me?"

Alec nodded and continued with, "They might not look like it, but they're trustworthy. They may be able to help you out."

Lucas nodded and continued out, Boney at his heels.

"Mmmgg fggggg ggg..." Ionia said, muffled by a gag she was trying to work loose. "......Pwaa! Ooh, I undid the gag on my own! ♥ I just moved my mouth up and down like so and slowly slipped it off! Ooh, I'm wonderful! ♥ I hate to be a bother, but could you stand me up?"

She addressed the last part to Lucas. He helped the tied-up Magypsy stand on the bridge where she was left.

"Thank you, darling! ♥ I don't know what happened. I was minding my own business, taking off my makeup, when suddenly I was physically assaulted! Oh, what an unfabulous time to be attacked!"

"Are you all right?" Lucas asked, concerned.

Ionia was about to answer but paused for a moment.

"Oh, my! ♥ You're that boy I met at the hot spring the other day, aren't you?"

Lucas was about to protest that no, he wasn't, but remembered that time moved differently in Milliways. It was considerably longer between that time and now for him than it was for Ionia. So he closed his mouth and nodded instead.

"It seems the threads of fate have led us to each other again. ♥ From the moment I realized you could use PSI, I knew there was something between us. You're undoubtedly the one we Magypsies have been waiting for for tens of thousands of years...right?"

"Me?" he asked, unsure of what Ionia was getting at. "You've been waiting for me?"

Ionia nodded and asked, "Can you sense it, too? Can't you feel 'the time' drawing near?"

Lucas shrugged a bit.

"It's okay if you can't. I'm not entirely sure about it, either. ♥ "

After a moment, Ionia started in her ropes.

"Wait a second!" she yelped. "If I was attacked... Could it mean... I hope Aeolia is all right!"

"Aeolia?"

"I wish I could fly there, but I can't without my makeup on!" Ionia said over Lucas's question. "All I can do is walk on land like a human. How tragic. Oh, well. I'll walk if I have to. And you. You're coming with me! Come on, let's go to Aeolia's house! ♥ Okay? ♥ "

"Okay," he agreed, still wanting some answers.

"Marvelous! ♥ Let's make some magic happen together! ♥ ...I mean that in a nice way."

***********************************

"Oh, what happened? ♥ " Aeolia asked when they arrived. "Why aren't you wearing any makeup, Ionia?"

"This is no time to be silly, Aeolia! ♥ " Ionia insisted, hopping up and down. "I was attacked. So I rushed here to see if you were all right."

"I'm just fine. I'm as lovely as I always am. ♥ But never mind me...why don't you untie that rope already?"

"Oh?! I was in such a rush I never even noticed! What a shock! Lucas. Could you untie me now?!"

"Oh! Yeah! Sorry..." Lucas said, going to untie Ionia.

"Unbelievable! You have no sense of courtesy!" she told the boy as he freed her from the ropes.

She then inspected herself in the mirror and said, "Ah, who's that fine figure? ♥ Why, that's me without makeup! I'm sexy, even without makeup on. ♥ "

While Ionia put on makeup from the vanity, Aeolia gestured for Lucas to come closer.

"Pleasure to meet you, ♥ " she said. "I am Aeolia, one of the Magypsies. Fate has brought you here... Yes, I can feel it. Oh, I'm so happy! ♥ "

"Just one second..." Ionia mused as she finished up. "There, all done! I'm pretty again! ♥ "

"Yuck," Aeolia said. "You can keep that lipstick. Indirect kisses with other girls aren't my thing."

Before anything else could be said on that subject, Ionia looked around and said, "Oh. I have a bad feeling... What could it be? What could it be? Whaaat cooould ittt beee? ♪ "

Suddenly, the room grew dark then flooded with a rush of red light. The ground began to shake and the room kept switching from light to dark. One more flash of brilliant yellow light and then, to Lucas's amazement and confusion, Aeolia began to disappear.

"Oh my! Aeolia! ♥ " Ionia cried. "Your body! Your body! Your body! It's starting to disappear...!"

"Oh, my! Oh, my, oh, my! ♥ " Aeolia cried back. "So it is! It's disappearing! ♥ I'm disappearing, but I'm well."

Ionia turned to Lucas and asked, "But... Does this mean...?"

"The Needle in Osohe Castle that I've protected for so long..." Aeolia said. "Someone has pulled it."
