"Mr. Butch!" Lucas calls as he comes up to Butch's pig farm. "I came to get some ham."
Butch looks up from feeding the pigs when he hears Lucas. He goes to clean his hands before walking up to talk.
"Well sure, Lucas. How much were you thinking of getting?"
"Oh, at least a couple of pounds."
"That'll probably run you about 30 DP."
This surprises Lucas a bit.
"DP?"
"You know," Butch insists. "Money."
"Money?"
"You don't know what money is?" the pig farmer asks, his voice faintly condescending.
Fortunately, Lucas is so shocked by this that he doesn't have to lie aloud to convince Butch that he hasn't a clue.
"An era of money is about to begin, Lucas, and I'm getting started on it. I need to make back what I lost when that no-good Duster stole the money I got for selling my pigs."
He wants to say that Duster would never do something like that but he feels like Butch wouldn't believe him even if he did. Instead, he quietly ekes out, "I don't have any money."
Butch shrugs and says, "If you don't have any money, I can't give you any ham."
Lucas leaves empty-handed, contemplating what to do about this.
