"It's possible you're asking the wrong people, here."

After all, they're from different universes. Everything looks slightly odd to Dinah.

She crouches down near the floor, listening for Boney and scanning the area for anything appropriately out of place. Other than that she stays perfectly still.

Boney's barking comes back, closer and insistent.

"You guys hear that?" a nearby man in punk attire asks. "Sounds like a dog. Guess it's stuck in the sewer underneath. Man, they're all barking and slobber on you and stuff! You guys wouldn't mind going down there and getting it, do you?"

Lucas looks to the group for a moment before going, "Yeah, we can do that."

The punk clears them away before hitting a switch on the wall, opening the way to the sewer in the middle of the floor.

Blink. Blink.

"That works."

It reeks. Autor takes one step forward, gags, and then glances to Lucas.

"C'mon, we're going to lose him," he says to their rag-tag group, and leaps in, feet-first.

Duster limps over, watching Autor leap down.

"I'll bring up the rear," the thief offers.

"Sounds good," Kumatora says. "Meetcha at the bottom!"

She holds her nose and leaps down after, followed by Lucas sensibly climbing down.

Enzo, likewise eschewing the ladder, hooks his gauntlet's grappling hook on the edge of the hole and lets himself down, arresting his descent just in time to avoid splashing.

"Now I know why Batman prefers rooftops."

Dinah covers her nose and mouth with a hand, steels herself for the smell, and takes a leap into the sewer. Like Enzo, she avoids splashing, but in her case this is by hitting the opposite wall with soft legs and one hand to absorb her momentum before she drops down.

Duster follows down the ladder, the punk sending a, "Good luck!" after them.

"God it's even worse down here," Kumatora complains.

"Can't all be roses," Duster says.

The sewers are dim but able to be navigated, a collection of trash and garbage cans forming a bridge from one side to the other. The side they're on abruptly stops with a wall, forcing them to cross based on Boney's barking.

The other side also has a collection of cockroaches made of metal and what appears to be sentient piles of puke in garbage cans.

"Whoops. Get ready to..."

He cuts off and gags as the reek from the cans reaches him. "Frag, that's vile!"

"All right," Autor croaks, "does anyone have any ideas as to how to approach these things? I assume they're hostile and I don't want to just start tossing grenades without some sort of a back-up plan."

His speech is rather pressured--strangling a retch--as he wants to get his words out before the puke-buckets move.

Dinah glances at the things in question and back at the boys, covering her mouth and nose again as she fights the smell.

"Why assume before they've even attacked us?"

The assumption, unfortunately for Dinah, is confirmed soon enough. One of the Putrid Moldymen approaches the group, flanked by a pair of Metal Attack Roaches.

One of them flies over to double-hit Lucas, who swats at it with his stick. Meanwhile, Duster tries a wall staple on the Moldyman and Kumatora preps her fists for a brawl.

"In some worlds, it's the safest bet," Enzo says, drawing his sword with one hand and his stun-rod with his left. He adjusts the stunner to a narrow cone and aims it at the enemy.

Autor follows suit, whipping his fists up near his cheeks to protect his face from the incoming Metal Attack Roach.

He hisses as his knuckles glance off the surface, but he manages to fend it off, for now.

The roach whips from Autor to Dinah, wings spread and ready to charge. Enzo's cone stuns the moldyman for a moment before he tries scattering some spores.

It's probably not such a bad thing that everyone is trying to cover their noses but, just to be on the safe side, Lucas is on the defensive and ready with his healing PSI.

"Okay, never mind."

Dinah charges the roach before it can charge her, jumping up to sweep a kick through the air and sending it flying against the sewer wall. She uses her momentum to somersault through the spores, landing on the other side of the moldyman so they can flank him.

Autor's gaze follows Dinah's arc through the air, and his jaw drops. "Whoa!"

Unfortunately, some spores catch him right in the face. If he thought the smell of the puke-bucket was bad, the taste of it festering on his tongue is enough to jerk dry-heaves out of his stomach with hooks.

The boy's eyes water during his coughing fit, so much so that he doesn't notice that his glasses are covered, rendering him effectively blind.

Enzo swears and leaps between Autor and the moldyman, slicing at it with his sabre and hoping it'll be effective on something like this.

"Autor!"

Dinah glances up at Lucas, checking that he's got his healing going okay. With Enzo attacking the moldyman, she uses another kick to dispense of the other roach before it can make things worse.

In a short time, everything has been dispatched and Lucas is at work healing the group.

"Everyone okay?" Duster asks.
